An article published on 21 July 2024 by Lee Waters MS, expressed his concerns over Vaughan Gething and his own Labour party where he feels there are “genuine conflicts of values.”
If you are not familiar with Lee, he is a Labour and Co-operative member of the Welsh Parliament for the Llanelli constituency.
He hopes the Labour party can unite after this latest controversy concerning Vaughan Gething who accepted £200,000 during his leadership campaign, then refused to return the funds to the company Duason Environmental, run by David Neal, who was convicted of environmental offences.
The Conservative motion called on the First Minister to appoint an independent adviser to investigate any conflict of interest that may exist in relation to the donations as Mr Gething received a total of £254,600 while the defeated candidate, Jeremy Miles, received £58,800.
“I have felt increasingly dislocated by the fact that so many people in the Labour Party have been prepared to turn a blind-eye to what the public have been able to see very clearly.”
Lee speaking out does make you question if his values still align with Labour or perhaps they are shifting?
Especially after the news that Labour suspended several rebel MPs over the two-child benefit cap.
