The Betrayal of Welsh Education: How Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru Are Leading Our Children to Ruin

The latest A-level results in Wales are nothing short of a national disgrace, and the culprits are clear. The Welsh Labour Government, in cahoots with Plaid Cymru, has systematically dismantled our education system, sacrificing academic excellence on the altar of political correctness and left-wing ideology. Once again, top grades have plummeted, with only 29.9% of our students managing to scrape an A* or A. Meanwhile, the Education Minister, with all the smugness of a failed bureaucrat, dismisses this disaster as “what we hoped to see.” What utter nonsense!

Let’s not mince words: the pandemic was a catastrophe for education, but Welsh Labour’s handling of it was sheer incompetence. Exams were cancelled, and grades were handed out like confetti by teachers. When exams returned, they were watered down to the point of irrelevance. The so-called “glide-path” back to normality is a pathetic attempt to cover up the fact that Welsh education is now a national laughing stock.

Instead of taking this time to correct course and restore rigour to our exams, the Welsh Government has been busy with its real agenda—politicising our schools to push its warped vision of Wales. Under the guise of a new “Welsh curriculum,” they’ve shoved academic standards aside to make room for endless lessons on identity politics, LGBTQA+ issues, and alien cultures. But it doesn’t stop there—our children are subjected to every hare-brained scheme these left-wing zealots can dream up, all in the name of “diversity” and “inclusion.”

The rot runs deep. Instead of learning the basics—reading, writing, arithmetic—our children are being force-fed a diet of ideological drivel. The curriculum has been hijacked by diversity fanatics who are more interested in brainwashing students with pronouns, climate alarmism, and endless indoctrination on gender identity and leftist obsessions like BLM and Pride Month.

But it gets worse. The Welsh Government has thrown open the doors of our schools to a parade of Marxist rabble-rousers. Under the laughable pretence of creating “Schools of Sanctuary,” they’ve invited outside agitators to lecture our children on the supposed evils of Israel and the virtues of the Palestinian cause. This isn’t education—it’s indoctrination, plain and simple. What on earth do these rants about Palestine have to do with preparing our children for the real world? Absolutely nothing!

The so-called “glide-path” back to normal grading is a farce. It’s nothing more than an excuse to cover up the mess the Welsh Government has made of our education system. They talk about fairness, but where’s the fairness in dumbing down exams so much that an A-level from Wales is barely worth the paper it’s printed on? Meanwhile, students in England and Northern Ireland are being properly educated, ready to compete for university places and jobs, while our kids are left to flounder.

The decline in top grades, now at 29.9%, is a clear sign of this failure. It’s no coincidence that our students are falling behind their peers in the rest of the UK. They’ve been let down by a government more interested in pushing its nationalist and left-wing agenda than in ensuring our children get the education they deserve.

This can’t go on. The Welsh Labour Government and their Plaid Cymru partners must be held to account for this betrayal of our children. They’ve turned our schools into ideological battlegrounds, and it’s the students who are paying the price. It’s time to sweep away this disastrous experiment in social engineering and return to an education system that prioritises academic excellence and real-world skills.

The future of Wales depends on it. We need to strip politics out of the classroom, restore rigour to the curriculum, and give our children the education they need to succeed. Anything less is a betrayal of the next generation and a damning indictment of the politicians who have led us to this sorry state. Wales deserves better—our children deserve better. It’s time to take a stand and reclaim our schools from the clutches of the ideologues who are driving them into the ground.

The Welsh Government’s “Schools of Sanctuary” programme, designed to indoctrinate children about mass uncontrolled immigration under the guise of “welcoming refugees and asylum seekers,” has spread like a virus across the country. Schools like Fitzalan High in Cardiff and St Mary’s CinW Primary in Brynmawr have been co-opted into this scheme, further diverting attention from core academic subjects and reinforcing the government’s ideological agenda.
