Stan Says: within a lifetime (1989) the evil and wicked Socialist ‘Iron Curtain’ began to be torn down. The phrase of course came from Sir Winston Churchill.

“From Stettin in the Baltic, to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the continent,” ushered in the Cold War and framed the geo-political landscape for the next 50 years.

In 1956, Budapest was the location of brutal combat as Hungarians fought to free themselves from communism.
